I’m on a mission to really experience Fall in Atlanta this year! That may sound a little weird since this is where I live but hear me out! I’ve been living in Atlanta for the past seven years, and there’s still so much I have yet to see. I’m reminded of this every time I head downtown for a shoot and stumble across yet another place I didn’t know existed in the city. Do you ever feel like this?
I hate to say it, but sometimes I feel like I’ve been grinding for so long, the years are literally flying right past me. This year especially since we had a wedding to pay for, I was all about the overtime hours at my 9-5. Now that we’ve gotten past that significant expense, I’m working less, falling into a routine, and I’ve been feeling this cosmic shift in where I choose to expend my energy. Spending more time with myself, and my husband has been a high priority!
The shift couldn’t have come at a better time because there are few things more beautiful than Fall in Atlanta! The days are sunny and full of color, and the nights are clear and crisp! It’s the best time to be out and about creating memories. So, I’ve come up with this list of everything I’m wanting to do and sharing just in case you also live here or plan on visiting sometime soon. I’ve already gotten a head start with some of these and have had so much fun!

A Little Relaxation
Firstly, I’ll start with Cirque du Soleil which brings a show to Atlanta a couple of times a year. Currently, they are running Volta until January 5, 2020, at Atlantic Station. Volta is a story of transformation. It is about being true to oneself, fulfilling one’s true potential, and recognizing one’s own power to make it possible. My husband and I took it in last month and loved every second of it. It was high flying, electric, and didn’t disappoint! Also, one of the main performers is originally from Atlanta which I find pretty cool!
Second on the list; Yonah Mountain Vineyards, in my opinion, the perfect way to spend a Fall Saturday with your girlfriends! This family owned vineyard is about 90 miles outside of Atlanta. There you can enjoy the relaxation of the tasting room equipped with live jazz music and an impressive wine menu, or you can take the cave tour where you enjoy tastings while also learning more about how the vineyard prepares the wines. My best friends and I did the tour a few weeks back and we all agreed that we would make plans to do it again in the future.
Thirdly is The Nutcracker Live running for two weeks in December at the Fox Theater. Yes! I’m finally going to take in a show at the historic Fox Theater! I am so looking forward to it. In addition to being my first time at the Fox, this will also be my first time attending the ballet. The former dancer in me is screaming inside!
Next up is the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, a place I’ve visited before during the summer and enjoyed. However, every year from November leading up to Christmas, they light up the whole place for the Garden Nights Holiday Lights Exhibition. Picture strolling through the beautiful gardens decorated for the Holidays while sipping Hot Chocolate. Oh yes, I will definitely be there! This outing is a great one for the kiddos! Which also brings mean to;
A Little More Adventure!
Tallulah Gorge State Park also about 90 miles outside of Atlanta. Hike to waterfalls, brave the suspension bridge, zip line, or take a kayak tour; all options available when visiting the park. Surrounded by beautiful Georgia foliage, Fall is the most popular time of the year to visit. This is something I’m looking to do as I work on my stamina for the next thing on my list which is;
Run a 5K ; An activity that I used to do quite often when I was about ten years younger, haha! But I’m back taking classes at Orange Theory about four times a week, and that’s motivating me to dust off my running shoes. Right now, I have my eye on the Lantern Run about a month away, so wish luck!
A Little Rest!
Finally, moving on to something we’ve never done during Fall in Atlanta; a downtown staycation! Yep! I’m looking forward to staying in a super nice hotel that I’ve never visited, sleeping in, ordering room service, and taking in the vibe of this city that is near and dear to our hearts!
That’s my list so far of all the things I want to do this Fall in Atlanta. Did you notice the theme of unwinding and relaxing? Because, that’s exactly what I’m going for as we close out this year. Is there somewhere or something I should have on my list? Let me know in the comments below!
